On a lazy Sunday, we were planning for an outing. We searched on internet for nearby hill stations and came across a place known as Morni hills. We were very excited as we love going on long drives.
Morni hills is a small hill station located on the foot hills of Shivalik range. It is about two-hour drive from Kurukshetra and there are couple of attractions where you can enjoy time with your friends and family.
The first attraction on the way is Morni Fort which is now converted into a nature museum. Eight kilometers from Morni, there is another big attraction that is Tikkar Taal and just before Tikkar Taal you will see an adventure park where you can spend about an hour and then from here, you can go down to the lake which is surrounded by lush green lawns. During the monsoons there is a waterfall that appears on the mountain side you can trek to that waterfall which takes around 20-25 minutes.
We drove through scenic views across the roads wrapping mountains. We spotted a few vegetable farms and we got the stunning view of Panchkula town from uphill. On the way we also found many step farms. After reaching Morni we went to the Morni Fort and saw many animal figurines and artifacts giving message to save Tigers, information of extinct species, pollution control depicted by tableaus displayed in three halls. It was all really interesting.
Then we headed to Tikkar Taal lake from the fort but we found an Adventure Park on the way to Tikkar Taal, so we decided to go there and had much fun on the swings. We also saw a horse and camel and took a few selfies. After spending an hour, we again headed to Tikkar Taal and at the entry paid 50₹ for parking. After parking our car, we stepped out and got a mesmerising view of the lake. We saw many adventure activities like para-motoring, boating and many more. we spent about half an hour besides lake. Then we were hungry so we went to the restaurant located along side lawns. We feasted ourselves with French fries, aloo parathas and tea.
While enjoying mountain view we spotted a beautiful waterfall. We decided to trek uphill to the waterfall. It took about 20 min to reach near waterfall. Water coming down from rocky steps was really cold and we spent some time drenching our feet in small water pools. The trek was an easy one. This waterfall appears only during monsoons.
In total, we had enjoyed at Morni for about 5-6 hrs and then returned back to Kurukshetra. It was a nice day trip.
